Yes, we will permit newcomers up to 3 weeks into the start of the program, which for session 2 is the last week in May, if there is still space.
Triathlon, also known as ‘tri’, is a sport that combines three different disciplines or exercises into one event. Although triathlons can technically be any three exercises, they are most often comprised of swimming, biking, and running—usually in that order.
There are many distances or lengths for triathlons, but they are generally classified into four categories: 1. Mini or sprint distance, 2. Olympic distance, 3. Half-iron, also known as Half Full, and 4. Iron or full distance.
The Simply Tri Program prepares participants for a mini-distance triathlon, which will consist of a 400 to 800 meter swim (10 to 20 minutes), a 10 to 20 mile bike ride (45 to 90 minutes), and a 2 to 4 mile run or walk (30 to 50 minutes). In total, a mini distance triathlon generally takes 60 to 120 minutes to complete.

Yes, as part of the program we will make group visits to local running and bike shops to help educate you on equipment and choose the products that work best for you.
No, you don’t have to run. Because the overriding goal of the Simply Tri Program is to lose weight and get active, you will not be forced to run—fast walking is perfectly fine. However, what we have found is because Simply Tri’s cross-training approach strengthens the entire body and improves cardiovascular endurance, many people who previously did not enjoy running have suddenly found pleasure in it.
